SENDING US A DEMO:

1. Before you send your demo, please think through...

Matara Music is a small label and our resources are very limited. Learn about Matara Music and consider: what are your true goals now or in the near future? Can Matara Music help you in achieving them? Do you have the right Matara spirit?

Are you really on such a level that your material and live performance could be a success in the music business? Why does your band need a record contract anyway?

Please note also, that although Matara Music is not assigned to any genre, it doesn't mean that we would accept ANY genre!

2. Writing the promo letter...

A good promo letter is short and informative. Suitable lentgh is 1-3 pages in A4. The letter should contain following information:

• The name of the artist/band, the members, their instruments
• The name of the release and the information (when and where was it recorded
  etc.)
• Short biography
• Future goals and the current situation
• Past/Future gigs, live performance experience, experience in studio work
• Photograph necessary* (either on the promo letter, on the CD cover or as a separate photo; NOT digitally or as a link to web pages)
• Other material separately* (e.g. live videos, reviews of demos or other releases PRINTED OR COPIED SEPARATELY)
• CONTACT INFORMATION!

Be clear and write in good language. Personality is always appreciated, but don't approach Matara Music with "I'm the king of rock'n roll and about to conquer the world" -attitude.

* = We simply don't have time or interest to fetch the material from the internet.

3. Music...

Accepted formats for sending music are printed or home-burnt CD and DVD records. Live videos can be sent on VHS as well. All other material (cassettes, MD, MP3 etc.) will be discarded.

Put effort on the sound quality. Of course the music is the main article, but cold fact is that good playing, technically appropriate sound quality and good production and arrangement form a professional and convincing totality.

We appreciate demos recorded in real studios.

Demos recorded with home studio equipment are evaluated with more strict standards. The reason is simple: home studio recordings are usually finalized with more time than studio recordings. The promo letter should state clearly if the recording is made in a home studio. If in studio, be sure to mention in which studio, when and by whom was it recorded.

4. Sending the demo and recieving feedback...

When your promo package is OK, send the material to following address:

WE DON'T RETURN any material in any case.

We listen to all material sent to us and give feedback as possible. We only give feedback via e-mail, so make sure that your contact information contains an e-mail address.

DON'T CALL after your demo. We'll contact you if we see fit.

Remember, the better total picture your band gives, the more likely the demo will be noticed!
